I started riding about 1993, the desire springing from a couple of rides on the back of Brian Freudenberger's Nighthawk 450. Two of my friends at the time, Greg and Harvey, also wanted to get bikes. I went out and bought a 1981 Honda CB750K, a clean low-mileage standard. I was scheduled to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation RiderCourse on the following weekend, but I wanted to ride before that. So I took the bike out for a spin in the country and promptly crashed it, cracking the frame in the process. Ouch. Took the course and learned how to ride, and have been happy ever since.
The three of us took a couple of trips to Bear Mountain State Park, once by ourselves and once with our respective significant others.
After that first summer I bought a new (leftover) 91 Kawasaki Zephyr 750, and have since put over 30,000 miles on it. I've taken a trip to Ohio and Kentucky, and a major trip out to the Rockies. I had a minor spill in 95 that has curbed my riding some, but I am riding more and more now.
